Welcome to Livermore
Founded in 1869, Livermore is California's oldest wine region. The City of Livermore encompasses approximately 25 miles and is considered the gateway to the Central Valley. Protection by the coastal range provides the Livermore Valley with a mild climate that enhances the pursuit of a more relaxed, less congested lifestyle.
Livermore was founded by William Mendenhall, who named the city after his friend and local rancher Robert Livermore, who had settled in the area in the 1840s. With its recently revitalized downtown area, Livermore combines old world charm and modern conveniences.
